It is no secret if you have ever spent more than a few minutes on this site that I absolutely love decorating with the colors blue and white. One of my favorite ways to add these colors to any design plan is to accent with a chinoiserie vase or bowl. Over the years, I have collected some lovely pieces that I frequently move about my home, and no matter where they end up, whether it be on the countertop in the kitchen or the coffee table in the living room, they fit right in and add immediate fanciness!

The chinoiserie style started when Europeans began to interpret and imitate Chinese culture, especially in architecture, art, decor items, and even literature, in the late 17th century. Over time and especially today, so many merchants now include among their wares more affordable options of the chinoiserie pieces that were created to imitate original works of Chinese art so long ago. The familiar aesthetic has even been added to everything from lamps to rugs.

Today, I wanted to share some of my favorites, all informal enough to include in any room and easy on the budget.
