The Bramble Cottage porch build is officially star The Bramble Cottage porch build is officially starting! The initial cuts have been made, the beams are prepared, and the slate tiles are ready for installation(maybe). I’m so excited to bring this porch to life and even more excited to share every step of the process with you.

Here’s a look at the slate tiles I’m planning to u Here’s a look at the slate tiles I’m planning to use for the porch floor. They’re made from the same type of material as the Bramble Cottage roof, but the texture is completely different — more weathered, and full of imperfections that add to its rustic feel. I love using the same elements throughout the cottage if I can; it makes everything cohesive.
But even after all this time, I’m still sitting with the question of whether these are exactly right for the space. I’m so close to committing, but I’d really love to hear what you think.
Do these feel like the right fit for the porch? Your thoughts always help!

I had some fun messing around with AI to give you a peek into what I picture when I look at my dollhouse and think about this outdoorsy space. It turned out really cute! 😊

Do you usually sketch things out before you start building, or do you just jump right in?

I experimented with a leftover piece of wood to test out various stains that could be just right. While I haven’t picked a favorite yet, I’m happy to see how each option complements the stone!

As I continue to gather materials for the porch, I As I continue to gather materials for the porch, I wanted to share a throwback to the Bramble Cottage kitchen. This room taught me so much about scale, texture, and realism—lessons that I’m applying directly to the porch construction. Each new space builds on the experience of the previous one.

Should I do a full kitchen tour again soon? Yes or yes 😉.

I’m gathering materials for the porch build 🔨, spe I’m gathering materials for the porch build 🔨, spending time online and in craft stores purchasing items I didn’t expect! The first major design feature is starting to come together: the rustic wooden beams. I’m using real wood, so the texture feels authentic — even up close. These beams will frame the porch and provide that classic English cottage feel.

What’s your favorite craft store find lately? I beeline straight to the wood and trim sections!

I can already see the warm wood tones, natural materials, and charming, lived-in cottage feel. After all, even the smallest homes deserve a welcoming entryway!

Which detail from the living room should inspire the porch: the wood tones, the lighting, or the textures?
