One of the key points of focus at Lucky Pearl Interiors is our desire to help families turn rooms in their home into bright and beautiful spaces that are also functional and all at an affordable price. This was the goal I had in mind when I began renovating my client’s space in Orange County. My client’s oldest daughter needed a space that felt more mature, airy and bright and that fulfilled her new needs as a budding entrepreneur.
The room had seen little change since it was renovated in 2003 and as she was now embarking on the start of her makeup business, she needed to be able to store all of her makeup in an organized fashion as well as have surface space where she could work on new looks.
In addition, we needed to also create a separate space where she could focus on the administrative side of her business, so she definitely needed storage space for her documents, supplies and even a place to pin inspiring images and messages.
After careful planning, several meetings with the client and a lot of hard work, we had a finished space. The process took approximately a week and Voila!
The budget for this room was small and the client wanted to work into the design some of their current furniture pieces that had been in the room. In this instance we kept the bed, the large mirror and the main desk. We also found an exact copy of the desk which we placed across the room and set up as a makeup station.
The bed was previously an off-white color and since it was over ten years old it had seen better days. We gave it a new coat of white paint to match the design of the room and added new bedding and accessories to really tie the space together.
The client provided LPI with an inspiration picture she found on the internet and we used it as the jumping off point for the design. To hide the uneven spots on the walls and ceiling, we brought down the charcoal grey color 2ft and then painted the rest of the space bright white. The door and window trim are also painted in the same white color.
Moving the mirror to it’s new location next to the closet really opened up the space and provided our client’s daughter with an easy way to check her outfits. To further maximize the space, we removed the closet door and added pretty curtains in a soft grey color and interesting pattern. It’s one of our favorite details!
My client wanted the room to have hints of gold so we incorporated that into the space through the use of accessories both on the desks and walls. The large pin boards have a pretty white trim and really center that work station.
For her makeup we added a rolling storage cart to help corral all of her work items.
LPI also reorganized the closet space and added some additional storage bins to corral smaller items and to make it easier to find garments in a pinch. We installed several shelves dedicated to our client’s shoes and even added a hook that will not damage the wall to hold her purse.
Although, the budget for this project dictated how much of the space could be addressed, we were able to truly transform the space into a functional room fit for a new entrepreneur for well under $1,700.00.
