It’s been so long! A month has flown by, our apartment is filled with packed boxes stacked to the brim in every corner, and my mind has felt muddled for weeks. Therefore, I thought the only way to stay on track (sort of) was to get back to documenting the design process at the #LPIHomestead, specifically the introduction to our future dining room.

As you may have seen, this area is right next to our kitchen and is part of the house’s open concept main living space. It measures 12 ft by 11 ft and will include a large dining table, six chairs, and a tall cabinet to display our prettiest dinnerware.
It is a compact space, so to ensure it does not feel cluttered or impossible to maneuver around, I had to pay close attention to each piece’s dimensions and profile. Our search started with this dining table that feels traditional yet has modern lines and whose light color will contrast our darker floors. I love that it comes in two different sizes and am waiting to move in to confirm (after taping its shape) that we can use the wider choice.
We have not 100% settled on which upholstered dining chairs we want to purchase but love the options with a lower chair back (also more modern) and a lighter, almost cream, colored fabric. However, we want the complete opposite for the host chairs – dark, traditional, and with tall chair backs. This combination feels perfect, and since we will stain our stairs (visible from our dining area) and banister in a True Black/Ebony color, it will fit the space nicely.
The search for the right cabinet has been a tougher process. Our ceilings are 12ft, and the height we are looking for usually has quite a hefty price tag, so we have picked a few that we love, a couple that we will consider and will decide after taping the shape on our wall. The height is important since it will be visible from every corner of the room, especially the kitchen.
We love the boards we have created so far and if you are looking for a similar design at an affordable price point, I have listed below options that look amazing together.
