“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam, be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.”

Today, it is time for me to share a new E-Design project that I completed last month, and that presented its own set of unique challenges. The bedroom below needed to be turned into a small living space and home office for a successful business owner and mom who wanted a place to unwind and relax at the end of the day.
Large Room w/ Potential
The room presented a couple of challenges, like the radiator that took up precious space near the windows, the built-in glass cabinet that required room for its drawers to open, and the closet next to it whose door swung into the corner where a desk would ultimately live.
At 15ft by 13ft, this room is generous in size and offers plenty of space to fit all of the functions that the owner required. For example, the room would have to accommodate a large sofa, coffee table, and television as well as a desk and chair for work.
3D Rendering
At the owner’s request, the beautiful navy color on the walls remained and set the foundation for the warmer tones and textures included later in the design. Her only requirement? A cool cowhide rug to add a rustic farmhouse vibe to the room.
The space plan maximized every corner of the room and allowed for a wide sofa with strong lines in brown leather. I added a large round coffee table and side table as well as an extra-wide desk and chair. To draw attention to the room’s center, I layered the cowhide rug over a larger area rug. One of the best parts of the design plan? The Frame TV which doubles as art when not in use and whose slim profile does not protrude into the space.
