Happy Sunday!Today’s post centers around creating a mid-century modern bedroom. This wonderful interior design style emphasizes clean lines, functionality, and the use of organic materials and bold colors. To learn more about this design style, its history, and how to incorporate this look at home, read our new Mid-Century Modern Design Guide for all the details. Now on to today’s mood board!
We often consult with clients who feel constrained by the size of their rental unit or landlord restrictions, and believe that they are unable to decorate in their preferred style as a result. The mood board below demonstrates how furnishings and strategic placement of accessories can make any room feel distinctive, all while keeping your budget intact.
This otherwise bland space, with beige walls, needed an injection of color and personality, and we did just that by starting with a strong statement. This textured handwoven area rug made of wool has an interesting pattern that is both structured yet playful. To create the foundation for the rest of the room and its accessories, we started with this striking upholstered bed. With a faux-leather headboard, this affordable bed may look simple but goes wonderfully with this 3-drawer dresser that we are using as a nightstand. The fabric accent armchair from AllModern is neutral in color, its shape adds structure and creates a corner where any client can rest in the afternoon and read a good book.
We continued the design by layering in accessories, and focused on keeping the pieces modern, minimal, and more importantly, affordable.
